LUCI statement

Luci’s official statement to the executive order declaring english as the offical language of the united states

We express our deep concern regarding the recent decision to make English the official language of the United States, a move that has sparked backlash among Latino communities, particularly in Iowa. This legislation not only disregards the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of our nation but also risks marginalizing non-English-speaking communities, limiting their access to essential services, education, and civic participation.

As an organization dedicated to promoting inclusion and equal opportunities for all, we strongly oppose this measure. Language should never be used as a tool for exclusion but rather as a bridge to unity and understanding. We stand in solidarity with all Latino and immigrant communities affected by this decision and will continue advocating for policies that respect and embrace our diverse identities.
